LITERATURA JUDÍA LATINOAMERICANA CONTEMPORÁNEA: UNA ANTOLOGÍA es un compendio de poesía y prosa escritas por judíos latinoamericanos. Viendo de comunidades judías dispersas por la inmensidad de las Américas al sur de los Estados Unidos, estos escritores proveen una riqueza de descripciones y modos de entenderá esta frecuentemente ignorada población de unas 450.000 almas. También hay obras de escritores, quienes por razones políticas, económicas o sionistas viven fuera de los países natales. Sin embargo, a pesar de las distancias geográficas entre estos escritores y las distintas culturas que los rodean, todos crean poemas y narrativas que son profundamente judías-- la liturgia, la vida familiar, el misticismo, el exégesis bíblico, el Talmud, los horrores de la Shoa--y que al mismo tiempo son profundamente latinoamericanas--las experiencias de los inmigrantes, la identidad nacional, el fútbol, los temas históricos y políticos, la belleza del campo y la intensidad de la vida de la ciudad. La gran mayoría de la escritura en esta antología apareció originalmente en la "Revista Hostosiana/Hostos Review", una publicación de la Universidad de la Ciudad de Nueva York. El cuarto número de la revista (2006) se dedicó a la literatura y cultura judía latinoamericana. El profesor Isaac Goldemberg es el redactor y editor general de la "Revista Hostosiana/Hostos Review". Stephen A. Sadow fue el editor huésped de ese número. Para "Literatura Judía Latinoamericana Contemporánea", Sadow ha actualizado el contenido, agregando a escritores nuevos. La mayoría de las obras incluidas en esta antología están escritas en castellano, algunos en portugués y unas pocas en inglés.

Vindo da maioria das comunidades judaicas dispersas entre a vastidão do sul dos Estados Unidos, estes escritores fornecem uma riqueza de intuições e formas de compreensão desta população frequentemente ignorada de cerca de 450.000 almas. Também estão incluídas obras de escritores, quem, por motivos políticos, financeiros ou sionistas agora moram fora dos países natais. Entretanto, apesar das distâncias geográficas entre esses escritores e as culturas distintas que os cercam, todos eles criam poesia e narrativa que são profundamente judaicas [nil] a oração, a vida doméstica, o misticismo, a exegese bíblica, Talmud, os horrores do Holocausto [nil] e ao mesmo tempo, é profundamente latino-americano [nil] a experiência do imigrante, a questão da identidade, jogos do futebol, a história e a política, a beleza natural do campo e a intensidade da vida da cidade. A maior parte da escrita incluída nesta antologia foi publicada originalmente na "Revista Hostosiana/Revisão Hostos", um jornal da Universidade da Cidade de Nova Iorque. CONTEMPORARY JEWISH LATIN AMERICAN LITERATURE: AN ANTHOLOGY is a compendium of poetry and prose written by Jewish Latin Americans. Hailing from most of the Jewish communities dispersed across the vastness of the Americas south of the United States, these writers provide a wealth of intuitions and ways of understanding of this often ignored population of about 450,000 souls. Also included are works by writers, who for political, financial, or Zionist reasons now live outside of the countries in which they were born. However, despite the geographical distances between these writers and the distinct cultures that surround them, all of them create poetry and narrative that are profoundly Jewish--prayer, home life, mysticism, Biblical exegesis, Talmud, the horrors of the Holocaust--and at the same time profoundly Latin American--the immigrant experience, the question of identity, soccer games, and history and politics, the natural beauty of the countryside and the intensity of city life. Most of the writing included in this anthology was originally published in the "Revista Hostosiana/Hostos Review", a journal of the City University of New York. Issue #4 was dedicated to Jewish Latin American Literature and Culture. Professor Isaac Goldemberg is the editor-in-chief of the "Revista Hostosiana/Hostos Review". Stephen A.
